In Japan, rain chains or Kusari-Doi have been used for hundreds of years, and copper rain chains can be found on homes, gardens and temples throughout Japan. They provide a beautiful and functional substitute for the rainwater gutter down pipe, and produce a beautiful cascade of water that flows gracefully between the sections, and normally finish at ground level with a weight standing on pebbles to keep the chain taught in the wind. Water from the chains can be fed into a large pot or suitable drain covered in pebbles, We are delighted to be able to offer an extensive selection of rain chains which are available in many designs exclusively in copper. Copper chains are the most elegant, and in time weather to produce a delightful 'Verdigris Patina'. Rain chains come in a standard length of 8 to 81/2 feet and are complete with hanger and may be shortened or lengthened to suit the installation. These beautiful home accents are hand crafted from creators in Canada, US and India. |
